Tweedie Files to Run for State Senate
Republican businessman from Rye says NH is at a crossroads and he can't sit by and watch it lose its low tax status, high quality of life.

CONCORD, NH – Rye resident Ray Tweedie, surrounded by his family, officially declared his candidacy on June 9, 2016, for Senate District 24’s seat being vacated by three-term state Sen. Nancy Stiles, R-Hampton.
District 24 includes the scenic Seacoast communities of Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kensington, New Castle, North Hampton, Newton, Rye, Seabrook, Stratham and South Hampton.
“Senator Stiles has been an excellent advocate for our community during her time in the Senate and the House," he said in a statement. "I have been fortunate enough to be one of her constituents and I will strive to provide the constituent service, attention to detail and work ethic District 24’s constituents expect of their Senator. I’ve traveled across the district, listened to the concerns expressed by families, business owners, and locally elected officials and I am prepared to be a strong voice on their behalf.”

“I feel like our state is at a crossroads and I can’t sit by and watch us lose our unique, low tax advantage and our high quality of life," he said. "As a father and a New Hampshire native, I am particularly concerned that our children and grandchildren won’t have the same economic opportunities to prosper here in New Hampshire that I did. Too many of our young people are leaving New Hampshire in search of better jobs and more affordable places to live. We need to take action to encourage job creation, economic growth and entrepreneurship. I am running for State Senate because I think we need some fresh ideas in Concord. I am passionate about serving my community and providing solutions. I am excited to campaign across the district and earn every vote.”
