Young Violinist Represents Seacoast at Stringfest
Anna Evans, 9, was the only Hampton-area student at NH Stringfest, an opportunity she said was "so much fun."

On March 30, 2013, Anna Evans, fourth grader at Seabrook Elementary School, represented Seabrook School District at the NH Stringfest in Goffstown. Over 250 students from all over New Hampshire gathered at Mountain View Middle School for an all-day event that involved technique and practice, culminating with a concert in the late afternoon. Evans was the only student from SAU 21, participating alongside New Hampshire orchestra students from North Conway, Keene, Londonderry, Somersworth, Goffstown, and many other towns.
The students were divided onto four orchestras based on skill level at the annual event, sponsored by New Hampshire American String Teachers Association. Students from first through eighth grades gathered together at the end of their day to play in a concert. Each orchestra played three pieces, ranging in complexity from Shortnin’ Bread to Little Symphony, by Nunez, and Prelude from Holberg Suite, Op. 40 by Grieg.
Evans, who is nine years old, has played violin since she was four.

“I’ve always loved violin, ever since I can remember,” Evans said. “It was so much fun to meet people from all over the state. I can’t wait until next year to do it again."
Evans also plays in the Bow Street Junior Ensemble under conductor Lynne White McMahon in Portsmouth, through Portsmouth Music and Arts Center.
