The big retailers aren't the only ones with fantastic holiday offerings, so if you're looking for something to do Saturday, head over to one of the dozens and dozens of independent stores and mom and pop shops in the Hampton area to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

: Nancy Briggs' North Hampton specialty cheese and wine store got a couple of well-deserved this week. If you're looking for a gift better than the cliche, mass-produced meat box, definitely check out some of the gourmet fromage at C'est Cheese.

: You could go bargain hunting at one of the big department stores, although you'd miss out on some unique and boutique clothing and jewelry options at Sheila Fleming's All She Wears, a downtown Hampton staple since 2006.

: If you're looking for a good restaurant that truly embodies the small business, "do-everything-you-can-for-the-community" mindset, then look no further than Desi Lanio and the 401 Tavern, a Hampton hub for all sorts of cultural events, political visits and plain ol' neighborhood conversation.

: Want to get that special someone something special, but hate the jewelry chain stores' selection and their tacky advertising campaigns? Head on over to Quicksilver Fine Jewelry and Crafts in North Hampton or one of the several other jewelry stores for some more personal, unique items.
