WHS Field Hockey, Soccer Teams Fall in Playoffs; Football, XC Still Alive
The field hockey team lost its bid for a third straight title with an overtime, championship game loss. Several other teams are featured in this Athletic Snapshot.

The Winnacunnet High School field hockey team's Division I state title defense ended with a 2-1 overtime loss in the championship game to Pinkerton Academy, while two other WHS teams also suffered playoff heartbreak recently, according to the Hampton Union.
The Warriors field hockey team, winners of the past two state championships, nearly won a third straight title in the opening minute of overtime, although the goal was disallowed, according to the Hampton Union. Top-ranked Pinkerton, whom Winnacunnet defeated for the 2010 state title and beat in the 2011 semifinals, went on to win the championship game with 16.8 seconds to go in the first overtime.
Both the WHS boys' and girls' soccer teams also recently lost in the playoffs, with the former losing in the first round to Manchester Central High School and the latter falling in overtime to Keene High School in an opening round upset, according to the Hampton Union.

There's one regular season game left for the football team (tied in first place with Bedford at 6-1), and it can secure home-field advantage in the Division II playoffs with a win against Bishop Guertin (5-2) on Friday in Hampton, according to the Hampton Union. The boys' and girls' cross country teams' seasons are also still alive, and each will compete in the upcoming NHIAA Meet of Champions, according to the Hampton Union.
