Sprinklers contained the flames, but water and smoke caused about $100,000 in damage, and officials say the final repair costs could climb higher even as services are expected to continue.
• Fire Reported Friday at Commercial Building on Avon Street in Keene (mykeenenow.com) — Jaffrey firefighters were among several mutual-aid crews called to help Keene contain a costly office fire on Avon Street, where sprinklers stopped flames from spreading beyond one room. No injuries were reported, but smoke and water caused more than $100,000 in damage as restoration crews now work to repair the Monadnock Community Services Center building.
