Man From Londonderry Faces Child Sexual Abuse, Dissemination Of Private Image Charges

LONDONDERRY, NH — A man from Londonderry is facing felony charges, accused of distributing a video of a girl he had sex with without her consent, according to police.

James Nicholas Steeves, 22, of Crackling Log Lane in Londonderry, was arrested on charges of child sexual abuse image; sell, transfer, etc. and nonconsensual dissemination of private sex images, both felonies.

The case began in late July when a couple from Arizona contacted police about a possible privacy violation involving a relationship between the woman, who was a girl at the time of the incident, and Steeves, according to an affidavit.

The couple told a detective that Steeves had previously dated the victim, but they broke up in October 2025. The victim said her current boyfriend received an Instagram message from another woman who sent the sexually explicit video to him of her and her ex. The message contained "distinct emojis," including money with wings, a stop light, and a Greek flag. A voice message also stated, "Um, I was told to show you that. That's all," the affidavit said.

The victim saw the video and did not recall being recorded, the report said. She estimated the video was taken two years ago, when she was 17, based on a tattoo she got after turning 18, which was not visible in the video.

The video was given to the detective and the victim was identifiable from the footage, the detective noted.

On Aug. 26, the detective interviewed the woman who sent the video.

The detective asked the woman how she knew Steeves and the victim. She claimed the ex had given her Steeves' Snapchat name, saying they had broken up and she was looking for single men, the report said. The witness did not communicate with Steeves for very long and accused him of asking her to send the video of the victim to the victim because they were going through relationship issues, the affidavit said. The witness was blocked by the victim on Snapchat, so she sent it to the man in Arizona, the report stated.

The detective was given Steeves' Snapchat account name, which had the same display name and distinct emojis as the message sent to the Arizona man, the report stated.

A search warrant was requested for the account and it matched information Londonderry police had on Steeves, the affidavit said. The detective also found the conversation from late July between Steeves and the witness, the detective wrote. Steeves said the victim should stop talking about things that never happened, especially now that she had a new boyfriend, the affidavit said.

"Approximately 4 minutes later," the detective wrote, "is when James sent the sexually explicit video of him and (the victim) to (the witness)."

The detective interviewed Steeves on Sept. 16, and he confirmed his phone number listed with the Snapchat account matched the one police had on record, the report said. He also confirmed the Snapchat account, the detective wrote. Steeves, however, "did not recall the conversation with (the witness) or the video in question with (the victim)," the detective wrote.

The detective issued a warrant for his arrest on Sept. 21.

After being arrested, Steeves was held without bail and arraigned by video on Sept. 24. His bail was set at $2,000 cash.

Steeves is due back in Derry District Court for a probable cause hearing on Oct. 20.
