Londonderry’s Nicole Lyons to Participate in Alvin Ailey Dance Summer Intensive

Londonderry's Nicole Lyons has been selected to participate in the prestigious Alvin Ailey Summer Dance Intensive in New York City from June 24-August 2.

Dean College, located in Franklin, Mass., has announced that Londonderry’s Nicole Lyons will be participating in the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Summer Intensive, taking place from June 24-August 2 in New York City.  Nicole is one of 26 Dean students accepted into the program.

Founded by Alvin Ailey, the mission of the school is to make dance accessible to young people and adults through dance training and innovative community outreach and arts-in-education programs. The Ailey School’s Summer Intensive Program is for students who have had a minimum of three years of consistent training and is structured to advance the technical skills of dancers in a wide variety of techniques.

During the intensive, Nicole will attend a daily ballet class, a daily modern technique class of either Horton and/or Graham–based modern, supplemented with elective classes which include jazz, Dunham technique, hip-hop, tap, body conditioning, yoga, Gyrokinesis®, barre à terre and/or a repertory or elective workshop.  All students are evaluated individually and placed in the proper level in each technique.  Faculty Advisors and the School Directors create a customized schedule for each student.

All workshops culminate in the Summer Sizzler performances in The Ailey Citigroup Theater and in studio showings on the last two days of the program.
