BBB announces Torch Award finalists

The independent judging panel working for the Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire has released the names of the finalists for the 2013 Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics, chosen from dozens of entries.

The New Hampshire companies that have been named finalists are:

Small category: Calling All Cargo Moving and Storage, Dover; Financial Focus Inc., Wolfeboro; Value Homes of New England, Nashua.

Medium-sized category: ML Halle Oil Service, Manchester; Millennium Integrated Marketing, Manchester; Upper Valley Cleaning, Lebanon.

Large-sized category: Carlisle Wide Plank Floors, Stoddard; Globe Manufacturing, Pittsfield; Visiting Angels, Auburn.

Three winners, one from each category, will be announced and presented the BBB Crystal Torch Award at the Better Business Bureau 13th annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics scheduled for noon May 22 at The Radisson Hotel in Manchester. The gathering will feature keynote speaker Tiffany Eddy, principal at FocusFirst Communications and director of public affairs at Granite State College, a former broadcast journalist and a media expert.

"The purpose of the Torch Award is to recognize annually those for-profit businesses in our state committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships," said Robert Shomphe, president/CEO of the BBB of New Hampshire.

In addition, the BBB will also announce the five recipients of the Better Business Bureau's Student Ethic Scholarship Program. Each student recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to be used toward college expenses.
