Thursday – May 8 – LHS Gym – 6:10 & 6:30
Members of the Londonderry HS Symphonic Band are gearing up to present a Young Peoples’ Concert on Thursday, May 8th in the HS Gym beginning at 6:30 PM. However, those wishing to arrive earlier can enjoy a chance to “meet the instruments.” Also known as a Music Fair, tables will be set-up throughout the Gym displaying all the different families of instruments. For example, one table will showcase the Flute family, which includes the piccolo, standard flute, alto and bass flute, while another will present all the saxophones. Student musicians will be stationed at each table to demonstrate as well as allow youngsters a chance to examine each item up close.

At 6:30 a light assortment of pieces will be performed. Youngsters will also have a chance to “conduct” the band (parents should bring cameras), sit on the floor next to the instrument they would like to observe the most, and participate in a grand-march at the end of the brief program. All will conclude around 7:00 PM so as not to interfere too much with family time. Admission is FREE.
Children and adults alike will enjoy this opportunity to “meet the instruments” and then hear them performed. The Londonderry Young People’s Concert series is presented by the LHS Tri-M Music Honor Society. Come and enjoy a wonderful program of fun music for children!
