Mass. Man Arrested After Attempting To Solicit A Child For Sex: Cops
Derry Police allege that Kyle Erickson of Methuen, MA, attempted to meet a child in town for sex after communicating with police online.

DERRY, NH — Police have charged a Bay State man for allegedly communicating and attempting to meet a person he thought was a New Hampshire child for a sexual encounter, according to police. Kyle Erickson, 20, of Riverside Drive in Methuen, MA, was arrested on Oct. 12, 2017, on two counts of prohibited use of a computer and a single count of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault. All three charges are felonies.

According to Capt. Vern Thomas of the Derry Police Department, Erickson was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. last Thursday after a week-long investigation by detectives. “Erickson is alleged to have used an electronic device to solicit a child under the age of 16 for sex,” Thomas alleged. “It is further alleged that he attempted to meet the child in Derry for that purpose.”
Erickson is being held at the Rockingham County House of Corrections on $9,500 cash bail.

Back in 2014, according to the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, Erickson was arrested on a willful concealment charge in Salem. According to Methuen Police, in this Twitter post, he was a former Police Explorer back in 2013.
This is the second arrest the department has made during the last week involving men allegedly communicating with children about sex online.
Last Tuesday, according to police, Patrick Foster, 46, of Sagamore Avenue in Portsmouth, was arrested and charged with seven counts of certain uses of a computer service prohibited and three counts of indecent exposure and lewdness after police in Derry investigated alleged interactions with a person he reportedly thought was a child.
