CONCORD, NH — A man is accused of killing his grandmother in Sandown Wednesday, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. Around 1 a.m., Sandown police were sent to Phillipswood Road for a report of the death of a woman. Police identified the victim as Aline Irish, 88, of Phillipswood Road.

An autopsy was performed on Aline Irish and her death was determined to be "blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of her death was homicide," according to the state medical examiner.

Tonight, Patrick Irish, 42, also of Phillipswood Road in Sandown, was arrested on alternative counts of second-degree murder. Investigators alleged he "knowingly and recklessly caused" her death by "inflicting blunt force trauma to her head, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life." Patrick Irish was living with Aline Irish at the time of the murder, according to Kate Spiner, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.

Patrick Irish is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 12 in Rockingham County Superior Court in Brentwood.
