Seniors Deliver Homemade Treats to the Windham Fire Department for Valentine's Day and American Heart Month
To pay respect to the local heroes who work so hard to care for the community of Windham, the residents and staff at Windham Terrace Assisted Living prepared heart-shaped cookies, hand-written cards and granola to deliver to the Windham Fire Department. The goodies were not only delivered to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but they were also made in observance of American Heart Month. A few residents delivered the homemade treats to thank the firefighters for their service, which the assisted living community relies on throughout the year. Windham Terrace continually looks for ways to show appreciation to the community’s heroes who work tirelessly to keep the seniors and the entire city safe.
“We know the firefighters will always be there for us when we need their help, but they don’t always hear the words of thanks they deserve,” said Lynda Brislin, Windham Terrace executive director. “Especially during the hard New Hampshire winters and around holidays like Valentine’s Day, we feel it is important to pay tribute and support our local heroes, and make sure they feel appreciated for what they do.”
The seniors used a favorite jam-filled cookie recipe to create heart-shaped treats in honor of the holiday. The granola was made by the community’s dining team as a heart-healthy option to pair with yogurt or other foods in recognition of American Heart Month.

The residents and staff continually look for small ways to make a big impact in their community. The community hopes they were able to bring smiles to the firefighters’ faces and let them know how much each and every resident cares about them.
