Teen with Previous Gun Charge Arrested After Armed Robbery Attempt: Cops

Josiah Brown of Auburn allegedly pointed a handgun to a man's head during an attempted robbery; he was arrested in April on a gun charge.

MANCHESTER, NH — A New Hampshire man with a previous gun charge from last year was arrested again last night after allegedly attempting to rob a man in the Queen City last night, according to police. Josiah Brown, 19, of Hooksett Road in Auburn, was arrested on Jan. 21, 2017, for attempted robbery, resisting arrest or detention, and falsifying physical evidence.

Police were sent to Enright Park on Lincoln Street at around 11 p.m. last night for a report of a robbery. A man alleged that he was walking by an address on Hanover Street near Wilson Street when three males reportedly accosted him from a front porch.

“(The victim) stated that the males approached him and he observed one of them with a black and silver handgun in his waistband, pull the gun out and load a magazine into it,” according to Sgt. Richard Brown of the Manchester Police Department. “(The victim) was knocked to the ground where he felt the gun put to his head.”

One of the men allegedly told the victim to “run his pockets” or give up what he had. The victim was able to flee the area after a woman nearby began yelling at the men to stop what they were doing.

The officers took descriptions and then, visited the home where the men allegedly came from and requested they appear. One – Brown – reportedly ran into a first-floor apartment and hid behind a piece of furniture. He later revealed himself, according to police.

“Officers got consent from the apartment owner to search for a possible weapon,” the sergeant alleged. “They located a black and silver handgun right where Brown was seen crouching. Brown was taken into custody. Officers found ammunition on Brown’s person matching the ammunition in the firearm.”

Brown is no stranger to police, according to a post on Concord NH Patch last year. In April 2016, he was arrested on a gun charge as well as resisting after a fight on Laurel Street in Manchester.
