Woman Accused Of Assaulting Deputy Sheriff During Warrant Arrest
During a sweep, Shannon Nelson and Jason Hunkins were picked up on various charges. Hunkins is accused of fleeing from Parkland Medical.

DERRY, NH — A warrant sweep by county sheriffs led to the arrest of two people from Derry this week. At around 8 p.m. Wednesday, deputies from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department were conducted a sweep in the Derry area and encountered Jason Hunkins, 32, of East Broadway, who was wanted on nine active warrants by New Hampshire State Police. During the process of trying to arrest Hunkins, Shannon Nelson, 33, pictured, also of East Broadway in Derry, is accused of interfering in the arrest.
During the interference, one of the deputies was assaulted and Hunkins was also injured. Both the deputy and Hunkins were taken to the Parkland Medical Center.
Nelson was arrested on simple assault, obstruction of government administration, hindering apprehension or prosecution, and resisting arrest or detention. She was released on $800 personal recognizance bail.

While at Parkland, Hunkins was given bail on the state police warrants for operating after certified as habitual offender, reckless conduct, driving after suspension for DWI, driving without given proof, driving after suspension, disobeying, reckless driving, license required, and misuse of plates.
"The investigation is on-going and sheriff’s deputies will be seeking additional charges against Hunkins for his actions during the arrest," according to Chief Deputy Al Brackett of the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. "It is alleged that Hunkins fled from the hospital staff prior to being discharged after being bailed on those charges."
