Officers searched the area and reportedly located Hammerle and Nault “hiding in a wooded area on Merrimack Drive” right near the complex. The pair allegedly matched the description provided by a witness, according to police. Their explanations for being in the area “did not make sense,” according to Sgt. Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department, so they were arrested on prowling charges.

“They were transported to the Merrimack Police Department for booking,” according to Cassell. “During an inventory of their property, officers located a number of items that they believed were stolen. The officers continued their investigation, identified victims, and confirmed that the some of the items in question were in fact stolen. This resulted in additional charges.”

Both were processed and released on personal recognizance bail. They are due in court on Aug. 18.

In a press statement, Cassell noted that officers were trying to identify the owners of property that was recovered. Call 603-424-3774 if you’re missing items from a motor vehicle.
