Eagle Scout Commencement Honors New Hampshire Scouts

More than 200 scouts reached the highest rank this year, according to the Daniel Webster Council.

MERRIMACK, NH - From the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America: The Eagle Scout Class of 2017 was recently recognized at a commencement ceremony at St. Anselm College by Daniel Webster Council. Last year, 210 scouts from NH earned scouting's highest rank. This represents 5% of all Boy Scouts.

Among the Eagle Scouts honored last night, Daniel Belair of Bow, NH was recognized with the Eagle Scout Project of the Year. Dan completed a two-year preservation project at the Alexander Cemetery. The Eagle Scout of the Year was awarded to Sakith Kaki of Merrimack, NH. Sakith is a member of several honor societies, holds numerous leadership positions in a variety clubs and organizations and volunteers at the Indian School of Language and Culture and Southern NH Medical Center. Both young men exemplify the character and values of an Eagle Scout.

The National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award was presented to four citizens for who have distinguished themselves in their profession and for civic engagement. Recognized for this achievement were, David Carney of Norway Hill Associates, Craig Donais, Donais Law Offices, PLLC, Christopher Norwood, NAI Norwood Realty and Michael Skelton, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Steve Curry, Daniel Webster Council President-Elect served as Master of Ceremonies and was accompanied by Jay Garee, Council Executive in the presentation of the awards.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and leadership, and develops personal fitness.
