Maryland Woman, Arrested In Nashua, Faces Charges In Merrimack

MERRIMACK, NH — A Maryland woman being held in a New Hampshire jail after an arrest earlier this month in Nashua now faces charges in Merrimack, according to police. In late June, a woman in Merrimack reported fraudulent activity on her credit union account. Someone other than her was attempting to use her identity to make a deposit and then an immediate withdrawal, according to Sgt. Dennis Foley of the Merrimack Police Department.
An officer obtained video surveillance of the transaction and, while working with other law enforcement officers, identified Cathryn Elizabeth Smith, 38, of Vincenza Drive in Sykesville, MD, as a suspect.
"Based on this information, (a) warrant was drafted for her arrest," Foley said.

Police in Merrimack found out Thursday that Smith was being held on bail at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester on unrelated charges. She was taken from there to police headquarters in Merrimack, charged and processed, and taken back to the Valley Street Jail, Foley said. Smith was scheduled to be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South Aug. 16.
Smith and two associates – Stephon Samuel, 25, of NW 7th Place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Montrez Finch, 23, of NW 44th Terrace in Lauderdale Lakes, FL – were arrested on Aug. 7, in Nashua on charges and warrants.
