Mass. Woman After Stolen Car Breaks Down In Merrimack: Cops
Ellen Carideo of Salem, MA, was arrested after allegedly stealing a car in her hometown that later broke down on the Daniel Webster Highway.

MERRIMACK, NH — A Bay State woman was arrested this week and held on cash bail after a stolen vehicle she was reportedly driving broke down in town, according to police. Ellen R. Carideo, 38, of Salem, MA, was arrested on Aug. 1, 2017, on receiving stolen property-motor vehicle and operating after suspension. At just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, an officer stopped to assist a vehicle in the breakdown lane of the Daniel Webster Highway near Elbit Systems, according to Lt. Matthew Tarleton of the Merrimack Police Department.

“According to Salem Police, the victim had left the vehicle parked with the keys still in it at a local post office and when they returned shortly thereafter, it was gone,” Tarleton alleged. “It was further learned that Carideo’s driver’s license was under suspension in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.”
Carideo was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail. She was arraigned later that morning.
