Merrimack Police, Fire and Rescue teams were sent to Route 101A after contractors reportedly struck a gas line.

MERRIMACK, NH — A contractor working on Route 101A reportedly struck a gas line causing a leak and an evacuation of nearby businesses, including a daycare center, according to reports. Merrimack Fire and Rescue teams were sent to the area and declared the situation a danger, due to the inability to get the gas shut off, according to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography.

Merrimack Police shut down Route 101A at Continental Boulevard and were assisted by state troopers. A nearby daycare center was evacuated and parents were called to pick up their children.

After about 45 minutes, Liberty Utilities arrived to shut off the gas and ventilated the area. The road was closed for about an hour and a half.
