Merrimack Goes to the Polls on Tuesday
Annual town election will held on April 12; voters eye competitive town council race, town and school budgets, other issues.

MERRIMACK, NH - Town residents go to the polls on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, to consider one competitive town council race and a number of budget articles.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the James Mastricola Upper Elementary School, located at 26 Baboosic Lake Road.

On the town ballot, voters can choose between two of three candidates running for town council: James Ferreira, Jackie Flood, and Daniel Dwyer.
There are write-in slots available for Ethics Committee and Supervisor of the Checklist. All other town races are contested.

Voters will choose on a $34.27 million town budget or if that is rejected, a default budget of around $29.38 million will be approved.
Voters will also vote on labor contracts, a charter amendment on how to library trustees, and the establishment of a recreation revolving fund.
School ballot
According to the school ballot, there are no contested races for school board and other offices.
Voters will decide whether the school board should accept gifts for the school district as well as labor contracts and capital reserve fund decisions.
Voters will also choose to vote for a $72.28 million school budget or a default budget of $71.46 million.
