MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Merrimack was arrested Monday on child endangerment charges after being accused of leaving children inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart in Manchester.

Around 5:15 p.m., police were told about three young children locked inside of a vehicle with its engine running in the lot of the store on Gold Street. Witnesses said the children had been alone for about 20 minutes. Police found the children, aged 9, 1, and 8 months, in the backseat.

Soon after officers arrived, Tyler Kennedy, 27, of Merrimack came out of the store and walked to the car, Heather Hamel, a public information officer for the Manchester Police Department, said.

“Through the course of the investigation, police learned that a loaded gun was also in the car,” she said. “It was located in a backpack that was accessible to the children.”

A knife was also located in the backpack, Hamel added.
