Police arrest Christian Prater on a domestic violence assault charge and warrant for failure to appear.

MERRIMACK, NH - A local man was arrested last month after allegedly pushing a family member into a door, according to police.

Christian Prater, 20, of Iris Drive in Merrimack, was arrested on May 24, 2016, and charged with domestic violence-assault and a bench warrant out of Merrimack District Court for failure to appear.

On May 19, police were sent to Gage Lane for a report of a disturbance and while there, learned that Prater had allegedly assaulted a family member and fled the home, according to Lt. Dean KillKelley of the Merrimack Police Department.

“Prater had assaulted a family member by pushing this victim into a door,” said KillKelley. “Prater had fled the residence as officers arrived.”

A warrant was issued for Prater’s arrest that day, according to police.

The next day, officers ran into Prater on Dutton Lane after receiving a tip that he was inside of a van. Officers arrested Prater and during process, learned that he reportedly failed to appear in court on a previous charge. Prater was released on $250 cash bail and was given a court date of May 24, according to KillKelley.

At about this time last year, Prater was the subject of a manhunt on aggravated felonious sexual assault, second-degree assault, four counts of domestic violence-simple assault, domestic violence-criminal mischief, kidnapping, false imprisonment, two counts of obstructing report of a crime, and criminal restraint charges. He was caught in July 2015. Prater was indicted on charges in November 2015.
