“Upon arrival, the victim was identified as Corey High,” Cassell noted. “High provided a description of the suspect and a direction of travel. Sgt. Walters and his K9 partner ‘Gunny’ attempted to conduct a track of the suspect, but were unsuccessful. While on scene investigating, High became a suspect himself in thefts from motor vehicles.”
Officers then reportedly attempted to seized High’s cellphone but he allegedly fled the area and threw his phone on the ground, smashing it. High also allegedly punched a police officer in the face while the officer was attempting to arrest him. Police were later able to take him in to custody, according to the report.

“During an interview, High admitted that the alleged robbery/stabbing was in fact a lie, and that he had two stolen GPS units at his residence,” according to Cassell. “A search warrant was executed at his residence and the GPS units were recovered.”
High was held on $10,000 cash bail and arraigned on July 22. After being arraigned, his bail was changed to $10,000 cash or surety. High has a probable cause hearing scheduled for Aug. 2.
