MERRIMACK, NH — A Manchester man has been charged with making a false statement about his criminal history on a permit to purchase a gun in Merrimack. Merrimack police said Jerome Lindo, 32, failed to reveal that he had been convicted in 2016 of conduct after an accident, which resulted in death, out of Hillsborough County Superior Court-North.

Merrimack police said it received a report of a gun denial from the New Hampshire State Police on Aug. 24 after Lindo attempted to purchase a gun from a local, licensed firearm dealer on Aug. 18. Lindo completed and signed an application to purchase a firearm, but Merrimack police found him to be not truthful in all of his responses.

On the question: "Have you ever been convicted in any court of a felony, or any other crime for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation?" Lindo checked the corresponding box "no" when it should have been checked "yes."
