MERRIMACK, NH — A Hartford, Connecticut woman was arrested on Monday after Merrimack police said she was found with stolen sunglasses and Nike footwear in the parking lot of the Merrimack Premium Outlets. Tammy Mendez, 48, was charged with theft and resisting detention.

Police said they responded to a theft report at the Sunglasses Hut Monday night and found Mendez, who was one of three suspects who matched a description given to the officers, in the parking lot. Police said Mendez initially walked away from the officers when she was ordered to stop.

Police said video surveillance showed Mendez placing a pair of sunglasses in her bag at Sunglasses Hut and that she was then found in possession of another pair of sunglasses from Sunglasses Hut and multiple pairs of footwear from the Nike Store with the theft detection devices tampered with.

She was arrested with bail set at $5,000 and arraignment scheduled for Hillsborough County Superior Court.
