MERRIMACK, NH – Merrimack police charged a Nashua man with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and registration after a traffic stop on Continental Boulevard on Monday. James Sanford, 41, had his license and registration suspended for failure to pay court fines earlier this month.

Merrimack police initially charged Sanford with illegal possession of a prescription drug at the time of his stop, but later amended the arrest report after Sanford was able to produce a required prescription, and police opted not to pursue the charge.

Merrimack police pulled over Sanford about 6:30 p.m. on Monday for a motor vehicle violation. A records check revealed that the Director of Motor Vehicles had suspended his license and registration on Oct. 7 for failure to pay the court fine.
