MERRIMACK, NH — A Gate City man is due in court this week after being arrested Sunday on drunken driving charges. While patrolling the area of Continental Boulevard and Industrial Drive at just before 7 p.m., an officer saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed, according to Officer John Dudash of the Merrimack Police Department. The vehicle reportedly jumped a cement median into the opposite lane and oncoming traffic, and then, back over the median, correcting the vehicle's direction, which was east on the boulevard.

"Police stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, at the time identified as Jacob W. Hugh," Dudash said. "After a brief investigation, Hugh was arrested for reckless driving."

While being taken to police headquarters for processing, the officer had "further concerns" about Hugh's "level of sobriety, due to the consumption of alcohol." A second charge of operating under the influence-liquor was added, Dudash said.
