Nashua Man with Criminal History Faces New Theft Charge

Merrimack Police arrested Rafael Rodriguez at the Valley Street Jail on Saturday after an alleged liquor theft incident last September.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was arrested on Saturday after police in Merrimack allegedly connected him to a theft incident in town from last year, according to police. Rafael Rodriguez, 23, of McLaren Avenue in Nashua, was arrested on Jan. 21, 2017, for theft by unauthorized taking.

Police arrested Rodriguez on a theft warrant after the department investigated a liquor theft incident back in September 2016, according to Sgt. Dennis Foley of the Merrimack Police Department.

“During the investigation video footage was obtained which identified the suspect as Rodriguez,” Foley alleged. “As a result an arrest warrant was issued on Rafael Rodriguez for the theft.”

Rodriguez was arrested at the Valley Street Jail, brought back to Merrimack for processing, and then, released on personal recognizance bail. He is due in court on Feb. 23.

Rodriguez is no stranger to police, according to reports on Patch.

Back in October 2011, Rodriguez and another man were arrested on robbery charges after allegedly holding up a man outside of a Nashua business. A year later, he was arrested by police on a warrant. In April of last year, he was arrested twice in Nashua for violation of a protective order. In September 2016, he was arrested again in Nashua for assault, domestic violence, obstructing the report of a crime, violating a protective order, stalking, and resisting detention.
