New Hampshire Fugitive, A Convicted Stalker, Wanted By Corrections Department On Probation Violation

Officials say Leland Petersen was arrested on a narcotics charge in Merrimack while on probation; they warn he has "violent tendencies."

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help in finding a fugitive, accused of absconding from probation supervision, after being convicted of stalking, domestic assault, and violation of a protective order.

Leland J. Petersen is white, 39, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs around 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Petersen has no known aliases but has several tattoos, including the words “Family,” “Kylii,” and “Madilynn” on his left arm, a skeleton on a bike on his upper left arm, a shield with a skull on his right upper arm, a triangle and the letters “CG” and “JG” on his chest, an anarchy symbol, spray can, and music notes with a staff on his right calf, and a shield with a sickle and hammer on his left cal.

The warrant for his arrest was issued out of Hills North.

Peterson has ties to Salem and was last believed to be homeless in Manchester, according to an alert.

According to superior court records, Petersen was charged with felony criminal mischief after an incident in Manchester in 2008. The charge was later nolle prossed.

In Manchester in October 2020, Petersen was charged with strangulation, threat, domestic violence, false imprisonment, stalking, and obstruction charges. In June 2021, he pleaded guilty to stalking-domestic violence and second-degree assault-domestic violence-strangulation charges. Petersen received a one-to-three-year and 12-month prison sentences, all suspended for five years, with $100 in fees and 29 days of time served credit. A show-cause hearing was held in February 2023, and a status conference was held in April 2023 on the fines. A court order was issued for payment of the fines later.

Petersen was accused of stalking-domestic violence in October and December 2022. He pleaded guilty to both charges in April 2023 and received two one-to-three-year prison sentences — one suspended for four years and the other suspended for five years. He was also fined $100.

Petersen was charged with drug possession in Merrimack, connected to an offense in April 2025.

Petersen was accused of violating probation on both counts of stalking and a hearing was held in late December. An agreement was reached, and a supplemental violation of probation was issued in January.

On Jan. 12, he pleaded guilty to the Merrimack drug charge and received a 12-month jail sentence, deferred for six months, then suspended for two years, with $434 in fines also suspended for two years.

A warrant for Petersen’s arrest was issued on Jan. 27.
