NHSP: One Fatality on Everett Turnpike

Cleanup, investigation are underway at Exit 11 in Merrimack after crash, fire took the life of a driver earlier today.

The New Hampshire State Police Department has officially confirmed that the driver of vehicle that crashed into the Exit 11 Everett Turnpike tollbooth in Merrimack earlier today has perished.

Troopers are currently at the scene investigating the crash after Merrimack Fire and Rescue teams were called to the scene at around 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2015.

No one was in the tollbooth building when it was hit, according to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, who took this shot at the scene of the cleanup effort. Troopers had heard reports of a vehicle in the area that was traveling at high speeds and operating erratically on the roadway at about the same time period of the crash.

Information about the identity of the driver has not been released.

The on-ramp and area remain closed at post time.
