Why are you seeking elective office?

I have been a Merrimack resident since 2003. I am looking to become more involved in the community. Since I have a daughter in elementary school, this seems like a way to be there both for her and the community. I also strongly believe in the value of public education and the importance of advocating for those who are vulnerable and have special needs.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Maintaining a balance between quality education and fiscal responsibility. I believe we have a responsibility to provide a quality education to the students in this town and to provide quality services to students with IEP's, 504 plans, etc. As a taxpayer , I am conscious of the need to be strategic with the budget as well.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I'm excited to see that there are so many candidates with a variety of backgrounds who are taking an interest in becoming involved in the community this way. As someone who is new to this arena, I bring an open mind and a collaborative spirit to the table. As someone who has professional experience in the mental health field, I hope that my perspective might be different enough to offer some new ideas.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

I have no issues with the current School Budget Committee. My main focus is to perform my duties well.
