Salem Man Slapped with Stolen Inspection Sticker Charge
Police arrested Thomas Forte of Salem, formerly of Windham, after a traffic stop in Merrimack.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was arrested at a traffic stop in Merrimack after police allegedly found him in possession of an inspection sticker stolen from a dealership, according to police. Thomas Forte, 25, of South Policy Street in Salem, was arrested on April 28, 2017, and charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized or forged stickers. According to Mptl. Michael Lambert of the Merrimack Police Department, an officer stopped Forte while he was driving in town for a motor vehicle violation.

“After a brief investigation, the officer learned the inspection sticker affixed to the vehicle was not issued to that vehicle and had been stolen from a dealership,” Lambert stated. “Forte was taken into custody without incident.”

Forte was processed and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in Merrimack District Court on May 25.
According to the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, Forte, who used to live in Windham, was arrested for suspension of vehicle registration, possession of a controlled drug, and driving after revocation or suspension in September 2014. He was arrested for domestic violence-simple assault in May 2015, in Salem, the newspaper noted.
