Traffic Stop After Vehicle Operating Erratically Leads to Drug Charges
Merrimack Police arrested Steven Shaw last weekend after an officer made an early morning motor vehicle stop in town.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man will be in court in January to face two drug charges after a traffic stop on Saturday, according to police. Steven Shaw, 21, of Joellen Drive in Merrimack, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2016, for possession of a controlled drug and transportation of a controlled drug.

An officer was traveling in the area of Greeley Street at just before 6:30 a.m. when they reportedly observed a motor vehicle operating erratically, according to Sgt. Sean Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department.

“The officer subsequently initiated a traffic stop and identified the operator as being Steven Shaw,” Cassell noted. “While speaking with Shaw, the officer observed signs of drug activity within the vehicle.”
Shaw was arrested on two marijuana charges, processed, and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Jan. 15, 2017.
