2 Canadians to Face Murder Charges Again in 1988 Killing of Lesbian Couple in Nashua
Anthony Barnaby and David Caplin are accused of harassing the women for being gay. They then tortured and killed the couple, police said.

Two Canadians will again face murder charges in the 1988 murder of a lesbian couple in Nashua.
The Canadian Supreme Court this week ordered the extradition of Anthony Barnaby, 47, and David Caplin, 53, according to the Canadian Press. They are accused of killing Charlene Ranstrom, 48, and Brenda Warner, 32, at the women’s Nashua apartment. Police said they were bound, beaten, and stabbed to death.

Barnaby was tried three times starting in 1989. All three trials resulted in a hung jury. Caplin was charged with murder but those charges were dropped.
Nashua police reopened the case in 2010 and used new DNA evidence to warrant the new murder charges, according to the Sun.

Barnaby and Caplin were working construction jobs in the Nashua area and were in their 20s at the time of the murders. Police said they harassed Ranstrom and Warner for being gay.
Barnaby will be the first person in New Hampshire to be tried four times for the same crime, according to his lawyer, Mark Sisti.
“It’s absolutely outrageous,” he told the Canadian Press.
