200 Grams Of Heroin-Fentanyl Seized During Investigation: Cops

Richard Black and Stephen Roberto, both of Litchfield, were arrested by Nashua police after a multi-community drug investigation.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua police arrested two Litchfield men this week on multiple charges after a three-community drug investigation. Detectives in Nashua and police in Litchfield accused Richard Black, 22, of Bradford Lane in Litchfield, of "selling heroin-fentanyl at various locations in the towns of Litchfield and Hudson," according to Det. Sgt. Clark Gaphardt of the narcotics intelligence division of the Nashua Police Department. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Black's home as well as an arrest warrant.

During the search, Gaphardt stated, quantities of heroin-fentanyl and suboxone was seized. On Tuesday, Black was seen by police as a passenger in a vehicle in Nashua and the vehicle was stopped. After the stop, Black was taken into custody on the warrant.

"During the arrest, approximately 137 grams of heroin-fentanyl was found on Black's person," Gaphardt said. "The heroin-fentanyl was individually packaged for sale."

Police ran a check on the driver of the vehicle – Stephen Roberto, 33, of Louise Drive in Litchfield – and found a prior drug conviction. Police allege that he was found to be in possession of quantities of heroin-fentanyl and alprazolam and was arrested.

Black was charged with four counts of acts prohibited; sale of a controlled drug-heroin-fentanyl, acts prohibited; possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute-heroin-fentanyl, and acts prohibited; possession of a controlled drug-buprenorphine naloxone, all felonies. Roberto was charged with acts prohibited; possession of a controlled drug-heroin-fentanyl-second offense, acts prohibited; possession of a controlled drug-alprazolam-second offense, and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, all felonies.

"During the course of this investigation, detectives seized approximately 200 grams of heroin-fentanyl which they believe would have been otherwise sold to citizens of the town of Litchfield and its neighboring communities," Gaphardt added.

Both Black and Roberto were held pending arraignment at a later date.
