4 Lives Saved: Nashua Police Officers Honored for Heroics
Six Nashua police officers earned commendations for four life-saving rescue efforts in 2015.

NASHUA, NH — Six Nashua police officers were commended for four life-saving rescues this year, Police Chief Andrew Lavoie announced Tuesday.

The department commendations are awarded to officers and civilians who engage in life-saving rescue efforts.
The six officers are David Elliott, Michael Kekejian, Brian Wornham, Alex Gangi, Frank Lombardi, and Kevin Delaney.

These are police accounts of their efforts:
- On July 5, 2015, just after midnight, Officer Dave Elliott, a three year member of the NPD, responded to the Nashua Gardens, 121 Main Street, for the report of an intoxicated male who had severely cut himself. Officer Elliott provided first aid and was able to get the adult male victim to Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center. It was learned that the victim had sustained an arterial bleed.
- On July 12, 2015, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Officer Michael Kekejian, a one year member of the NPD, and Officer Brian Wornham, a two year member of the NPD, responded to a south end residence for the report of a suicidal female who had cut herself. Upon their arrival, officers noticed that the victim was bleeding heavily from both wrists. Both officers began first aid by applying compression trauma bandages which helped prevent further blood loss. The victim was subsequently transported to the Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment. She subsequently made a full recovery.
- On July 25, 2015, Officer Alex Gangi, a seven year member of the NPD responded to the Pheasant Lane Mall, near Target, for a single vehicle accident. The car had veered over an embankment and the operator, an adult male, was not breathing and had no pulse. Officer Gangi could not extract the victim from the vehicle and began to perform CPR from within the automobile. AMR and NFR also responded and as a result of the medical aid provided the victim regained a pulse. The victim was transported to Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center where he underwent further medical procedures.
- On 03 September 2015, at about 10:50 a.m., Officer Frank Lombardi and Officer Kevin Delaney, both seven year members of the NPD, responded to the rear parking lot of 3 Amory Street for the report of an unconscious male. Upon their arrival they discovered that the adult male victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse. The officers conducted CPR and as a result the victim began to breathe on his own and had a slight pulse. The victim was subsequently transported to the Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center and made a full recovery.
