After Nashua Vehicle Break-Ins, Man Faces Gun Theft Charges

NASHUA, NH — Police in Nashua are accusing a man of two vehicle break-ins earlier this year that led to handguns being stolen — and felony charges against the man Wednesday.

Back on March 16, police were sent to Skyview Avenue after a resident reported the theft of a Ruger SR9C 9 mm semiautomatic handgun, as well as other items, from a vehicle. About a month later, on April 15, another theft was reported, on Hills Ferry Road, according to Lt. Patrick Hannon of the Nashua Police Department.

"Amongst other articles stolen from the motor vehicle, a Smith and Wesson 1911 .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol was stolen," he said.

Criminal Investigation Division detectives worked the cases and eventually, Brandon Maloney, 22, of no fixed address "was identified as being responsible for the thefts from Skyview Drive and Hills Ferry Road, along with several other thefts from motor vehicles throughout the City of Nashua," Hannon said.

Maloney was arrested May 27 and charged with two felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer; firearm. He faces 30 years in prison as well as fines. Maloney was held on $200 cash bail and arraigned Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.
