Cops Say Nashua Man Sold Crack, Threatened Others With A Gun On Eaton Street, Saying, ‘I’ll Explode You’ (patch.com) — Nashua police have arrested 20-year-old Jefferson Vidal-Morel in connection with a weekend Eaton Street shooting where a man was wounded in the leg. Investigators say Vidal-Morel, already under drug investigation, allegedly threatened several people with a gun, supplied the firearm used in the shooting, and now faces multiple felony assault, firearms, and crack cocaine charges. He is being held without bail, and police are asking Nashua residents for tips.
2. Nashua Police dispatchers honored as Team of the Year (cabinet.com) — Nashua residents are learning more about the 911 dispatchers who calmly managed a flood of calls during last fall’s Sky Meadow Country Club shooting and have now been named Team of the Year in New Hampshire. Dispatchers describe the relentless volume of 911 calls, the emotional toll since the attack, and the pride they feel in supporting officers and residents during the city’s first active-shooter crisis.
3. On Nashua: Renowned organist James Kennerley to play The First Church's historic Anderson organ on its 100th anniversary (unionleader.com) — Nashua residents are invited to a free “Pops for Pipes” concert on Friday, May 15, at The First Church of Nashua, celebrating the 100th anniversary of its historic Anderson Memorial Organ. World-renowned organist James Kennerley will perform, with refreshments and a meet-and-greet afterward, alongside rich stories of the organ’s local roots and past milestones.
4. Annual Nashua sculpture symposium kicks off next week (unionleader.com) — Nashua’s annual International Sculpture Symposium returns May 14 with an opening reception at the Picker Artists’ Studios and three weeks of live sculpting you can watch. Four artists from Europe and Vermont will create new public works under the “Gathering Momentum” theme, expanding the city’s permanent sculpture collection at yet-to-be-announced locations.
5. NH lawmakers reject plea from Ayotte, delay action on children's mental health coverage bill (wmur.com) — New Hampshire lawmakers have delayed action on a bill to expand insurance coverage for children’s mental health services, despite Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s push for a quick vote. Nashua Rep. Carrie Spier voiced uncertainty about competing claims from stakeholders, while advocates warn that waiting until at least September could deepen hardships for affected families statewide.
