NASHUA, NH — The wife of a man who died during a jet ski-pontoon boat crash in Hudson on Sunday has started a GoFundMe to assist in supporting the family.
Erick H. Machado was riding a jet ski on the Merrimack River during the afternoon when he crashed into a pontoon boat. The crash sent him into the water and he was struck by the pontoon boat's propeller. Good Samaritans were able to get him out of the water and take him to shore while Hudson police and firefighters attempted to save his life, but he was pronounced dead.
Ana Lenares, his wife, said Machado was the father of two children, an 8-year-old and a newborn, and was a lovely person who had many friends.
"He was born in Rio de Janeiro and has been here in the United States for 10 years," she wrote. "I ask for your help for personal bills such as rent and also so that we can take Erick's body to the farewell of the family in Brazil."
Lenares thanked her friends and family for the assistance.
"Our hearts are in mourning," she said, "but we know that Erick will never be forgotten."
