NASHUA, NH — A local man was accused of statutory rape after incidents with a teenage girl in a motel in Nashua as well as at least one incident in Milford, according to police and court documents.
On July 14, a Gate City father reported his teenage daughter had run away two days before. An officer took the information, entered it into the national database, and began searching for the girl.
Four days later, police received a tip the girl might be at Lillian's Motel on Concord Street with a cabdriver known as "Joker."
A detective was assigned to the case on July 19 and spoke with a family member who said the girl had created a new Instagram account and was asking for money via cash apps. The cash app's moniker was connected to Abdiel Ross, 43, of Concord Street in Nashua or Tuckerbrook Road in Milford. Police attempted to find Ross as well as the girl at "multiple locations and jurisdictions," while "exigent record requests" were granted for the girl's Instagram account.
Around 2 a.m. on July 20, the girl returned home and an officer spoke with her and her mother. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and removed from the national database, but would not provide police with any information about Ross, an affidavit stated.

On July 28, police were sent to the Dunkin' Donuts on West Hollis Street for a welfare check after a report of a girl inside an Audi in the parking lot. Ross, according to the report, was employed in the area. An officer interviewed him and he was accused of admitting he spent time with the girl and was allowing her to stay in his motel room. Ross said he and the girl had sex multiple times, and he believed she was 18, which is what she claimed, the affidavit stated.
The girl was taken to police headquarters and a detective was briefed on the investigation. Her mother was also requested to headquarters and later gave permission to allow the girl to be interviewed, a report stated.
The girl told the detective she met Ross on July 11. She stayed at the motel primarily after she ran away, admitted she told Ross she was 18 despite being 15, and "initially denied" having said anything with him, but "eventually did disclose she and Abdiel had sex multiple times," including that afternoon, an affidavit stated.
The mother agreed to allow the girl to complete a sexual assault nurse exam, but the girl refused and also did not want to speak with medical providers, according to the report. The girl was driven home, and later, the mother agreed to allow the girl's clothing to be given to police for evidence, the report stated.
The detective attempted to speak to Ross at his employer's, but he could not leave work in order to do so, the report stated. A warrant was then issued for his arrest on one felony count of felonious sexual assault and a search warrant was requested and approved for his motel room.
After being arrested, Ross agreed to be interviewed. He was Mirandized and again admitted to having sex with the girl multiple times in his motel room as well as in Milford, on the first night they met, the affidavit said. He confirmed four encounters but could not remember the other dates and times in Milford and other locations. Ross claimed he questioned her age "various times" and "encouraged her to call her parents but, despite these concerns, he continued to have sexual intercourse with her multiple times," the detective wrote.
Ross also explained he was nicknamed "Joker" and had been for years due to multiple tattoos. He gave him a DNA sample and his motel room was searched.
Ross was charged with four felony counts of felonious sexual assault. He was held without bail and arraigned on July 30.
