Woman From Nashua Accused Of Strangling Child, Assault, And Stalking

NASHUA, NH — A woman from Nashua was arrested on felony charges after being accused of strangling a teenager in late June.

Angelika Maigatter, 56, of Dodge Street in Nashua, was arrested on July 1 on a felony count of second-degree assault-domestic violence-strangulation. She was charged with four counts of stalking in August.

Officers were called to Dodge Street around 11 p.m. on June 30 for a report of a 911 hang-up call.

When they arrived, they meet with a boy, who was standing outside the home, and accused Maigatter of strangling him. The boy told police she accused him of being intoxicated and ordered him to clean the house, a report stated, which he did. Later, they were involved in an argument in the kitchen and the boy accused Maigatter of shoving him and grabbing him by the neck.

"He stated that he could not breathe for approximately two seconds, but was able to shove her off of him," a detective wrote. "(An officer) observed a substantial red mark on the left side of (the child's) neck."

After he broke away, she punched him in the stomach, the affidavit said.

A man at the home heard the screaming and went to the kitchen but did not witness the altercation, the detective wrote. The man said Maigatter had been upset due to a dog passing away the previous day and had been "treating them poorly since," the report said.

The officers spoke with Maigatter, who said she had "ongoing issues" with the boy and noted he called her a "bitch" and other words, the report stated. She accused him of getting "into her face" and grabbing her arms so she "put him in his place," the affidavit said. She also accused the man of giving the boy alcohol, the report said. Maigatter "clarified that she grabbed (the boy) by the throat and pushed (him) against the wall," the affidavit said. She denied, however, punching him, and called the boy a "drama queen," the report stated.

The officer cleared the scene, but police were called back around 8:30 a.m. on July 1, after the boy attempted to run away, a report stated.

Officers gathered more information and a detective was assigned to the case.

During an interview with Maigatter, she offered "similar details" about what happened the previous evening but denied causing the marks on the boy's neck, the affidavit said. She believed they were "hickeys," the detective noted.

A warrant was issued for her arrest, and Maigatter was arrested and held without bail pending an arraignment in Nashua District Court on July 2.

On July 17, her case was boundover to Hillsborough County Superior Court South. A bail hearing was held on July 20 and she was released on personal recognizance on July 28.

In later filings, Maigatter was accused of stalking-domestic violence on July 12, July 22, July 31, and Aug. 2, all misdemeanors, according to court paperwork. No information was available at the time of publication on the misdemeanor charges.

On Aug. 5, prosecutors filed an expedited motion to revoke bail, and the court granted it. Prosecutors amended the bail on Aug. 13.

Maigatter was indicted on the felony charge on Sept. 17. She is due back in court on Oct. 8 for arraignment.
