VIDEO: Soup, Sandwiches and a Side of Support: Ayotte Joins Team Romney

GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney served up BLTs and chicken noodle soup, with an assist from U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

Following a brief Nov. 20 rally on the steps of Nashua's City Hall, where homegrown U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte formally announced her endorsement of Mitt Romney for President, the two went up Main Street to Jackie's Diner, where some of the regulars were gathered for an after-hours late lunch of breakfast sandwiches, BLTs and chicken noodle soup.

Among those at the counter were Larry and Lynne Washam, of Nashua, who eat frequently the downtown diner, and know owner Carol Montminy and her boyfriend, Kevin Dandley, well.

Just before Romney and Ayotte appeared with a tray of sandwiches, Larry Washam was saying that he's still undecided about who he will vote for in the January Primary election.

"I do have one question for Mitt: I want to know whether he supports the balanced budget amendment," said Washam.

With a flurry of camera flashes, Romney and Ayotte emerged from the kitchen with trays loaded up with breakfast sandwiches and BLTs, which they served up to everyone, including the Washams.

Although Mr. Washam was too busy snapping photos to ask Romney his key question, the first-person brush with Romney seemed to help push him closer to a decision.

For one thing, it was the best sandwich he'd ever had, Washam said.

"He was very nice. I'd have to say now I'm leaning toward Mitt," he said.
