Why are you seeking elective office?

In the 80s, during the Reagan era, I became interested in the idea of political conversation. I later learned the true differences between the two political parties and I realized that the Republican ideals fit mine. When conversing with others on the many current issues, I am often complimented and have also been sought for my opinions. I started working at the voting polls and I attend the Republican [NRCC and NGOP] meetings. Upon realizing my strong Conservative Ideals and my knowledge of the issues, I was asked by my subcommittee Chairman to consider a candidacy for Ward 7 State Representative.
The America which I came to understand and appreciate a few years ago is not the same today. Understanding that things do change, our country is being changed in the wrong direction. Crime is on the rise and prosecutions are low. We have a sanctioned illegal alien invasion, illegal drug use has increased while our policing agencies, such as the IRS and the FBI are being weaponized to intimidate the citizens of the United States of America, all of which is absolutely wrong.

When I am elected to the New Hampshire General Court, I intend to work diligently to help restore America’s greatness starting with Nashua NH.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Inflation; The demise of America’s energy independence is a major contributing factor to the severity of today’s inflation. The mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic is another factor. You don’t have to be an economist to see the higher cost of living since the Democrats took control of the Government. The price of eggs, bread, fuel, lumber, and everything else has jumped up astronomically courtesy of the policies out of Washington, DC.
The Democrats campaigned on how they plan to change America [equality/ equity, we are fighting for the hearts and minds of our children is what they said. Canceling student debt, etc., are other plans]. It all sounded so great. The problem is that although we heard the words of the democrats, many of us did not really “hear” what they meant. As a result, we have massive, massive inflation, moral corruption, deepening societal divisions, legally questionable leadership, all while socialism knocks at America’s back door.
When I am elected State Representative from Nashua Ward 7, I will confer with other Republican Representatives to create a coalition that could also include our counterparts in the State Senate in an effort to change the trajectory of this god-awful economic disaster as it pertains to New Hampshire and more particularly, Nashua. Also, I will aid in the efforts to restore the moral fabric of America.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

While I am in office, I won’t be a ghost. I will exercise the proverbial open-door policy. Constituents will know of my efforts to do the right thing for the people of Nashua via either email, social media, maybe a town hall-type meeting, etc. I believe that Government works well when the people know the truth of what’s going on.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Nashua’s Ward 7 is my neighborhood. I have walked it and knocked on just about every door in this Ward. I’ve met many wonderful people. Well, just one door was slammed in my face, but I’ve spoken with many welcoming people who've taken a genuine interest in me as a candidate. We’ve had some great conversations along the way about a number of local and national issues. My election to this seat will be a wonderful testament of Ward 7’s confidence and expectations of me while in office. I will not disappoint. Except for conditions beyond my control, it is my intention to be present for each and every vote and to vote my conscience for Ward 7. I am not interested in power grabs, nor am I interested in legislation layered on top of legislation. My interest is to help get America back on the right track, keep New Hampshire on a spending budget while pushing back against any new taxes. I strongly support our police and their enforcement of our current laws.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Limited Government Spending: As a very young man, my mom taught me not to spend any more than what’s in my pocket. Our democrat friends apparently missed that talk. Government spending must be reduced, allowing people to keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets. We need to limit all government spending.
Taxes: Some taxation is necessary for municipalities, schools, etc. Excessive and unreasonable taxing of citizens, leaving people with less of their hard-earned money, is great for socialism. We are a Constitutional Republic, not a socialist country. Enforced spending caps and budgeting is the ticket. Americans enjoy their freedom of self-determination. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are the American way.

Our Second Amendment: New Hampshire is a Constitutional Carry state. However, the anti-gun activists led by the democrats are more interested in depriving this country and this state and its citizens of their Second Amendment Rights. Their plans to chip away at our state’s constitutional right to carry law, if successful, would leave the law-abiding citizens at the mercy of our criminal element. I will protect our Second Amendment Right and NH’s Constitutional Right to conceal carry. I don’t mind saying owning a gun has saved my life before.

Law and Order: Criminality is becoming more and more prevalent, more sophisticated, more deadly. Our police need the tools [manpower, equipment] to do the job of protecting the public. I support our local police.

Personal Responsibility: At my age, I still remember many of the lessons my mom taught me, which I’ve always lived by. There is no free ride. There’s never something for nothing. For example, if your goal is to improve your position in life through education with an expectation of earning more money in order to make a better life for you and your family, that’s very commendable. Along the way you may have gotten student loans to accomplish these goals. At this point in your life, you are no longer a kid, as many democrats would have you believe. Those higher costs of extended education which you have incurred are your personal responsibility. Why should the I’s of this country or people of the state of New Hampshire who are less fortunate or other people who just can’t afford a college education be held responsible for your student loans?

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

There are many in our government who have numerous degrees in this and in that. They have extended trainings in many areas of academia. We have professional students who transitioned from the classroom directly into the political sphere. Look at the condition of the country. See what the highly educated suites have done. Our state also has its shortcomings, as well. I am blue-collar just as most of my voters. I have worked in corporate, hospitality, warehouse, and entertainment. I’ve worked with many different types of people with many different backgrounds and personalities. I see the State Representative as another job, with my constituents as my advisors. After all, it is them for whom I work.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

As with most kids, when asked to perform a chore, many would complete that task half-assed including me. I am so grateful for the piece of advice which says, whatever you do, always do it to the best of your ability and have fun doing it. I have lived by that piece of advice for the pass 55+ years.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I hold many positions on many different issues, but here’s one more;
Immigration. Most of our general public has never traveled internationally but is being bombarded by so much misinformation regarding illegal immigration. Some politicians are deceiving the general public about this illegal immigration crisis and what it means. They say that America is the land of immigrants, which is definitely true. They fail, however, to differentiate between a legal immigrant and an illegal immigrant.
Any country visited by a foreigner requires at least 4 documents before that foreigner is allowed to enter that country ie;
Identification, to know who you are,
Medical clearance of diseases,
Background/character clearance of any criminal activity and
Some form of self-sufficiency, so as not to be on the welfare system.
These requirements are to preserve the health, safety and the social welfare of that desired destination country, including that of America. People walking across the US border have none of these official documents. I am an immigrant, now a citizen of the United States of America. I had to satisfy these requirements by producing these documents before entering or taking up residence in this country.
How is it not of a national security concern, a health hazard or a safety issue to Americans to have border surges of people from whichever country or an open border to the United States of America?
America, New Hampshire, Nashua needs people in offices that will serve not for their own self-interest but at the pleasure of their constituents of whom they serve. I am asking for your vote, Avalon Lewis For Nashua Ward 7 State Rep. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Thank you for your vote.
