Big-Time Nashua Heroin Dealer Gets Big-Time Prison Sentence

Robert Orth was caught with over $40,000 worth of heroin last year.

A big-time heroin dealer arrested in Nashua last year has pleaded guilty and will likely serve 10 years in prison.

Robert Orth, 30, of South Ryegate, Vermont, was arrested during a traffic stop in Nashua on May 19. Police found more than 200 grams and a loaded gun in his vehicle. The value of the heroin was estimated at $40,000.

Orth is a convicted felon and faced a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $5 million fine on federal charges. He agreed to a plea deal to serve 10 years in prison instead.

“Individuals who choose to profit from trafficking heroin can expect to serve significant sentences in federal prison upon conviction,” U.S. Attorney Donald Feith said in a statement. “The 10-year sentence in this case insures that the public will be protected from Mr. Orth’s drug trafficking for the next decade.”

Nashua police in recent months have focused on busting drug dealers in the midst of the state’s so-called heroin “epidemic.” Earlier this month, police conducted a drug sweep targeting dealers that netted 22 arrests.
