Carol Shea-Porter Retiring From Congress
New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, a Democrat from Rochester, has served four terms.

ROCHESTER, NH — Democratic Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter on Friday announced she will not run for re-election. Shea-Porter, 64, is serving her fourth term, which ends in 2019. A Rochester resident serving New Hampshire's First District, she was first elected in 2006 and frequently faced off against Republican rival Frank Guinta.
"This has been a very difficult decision, given how much I have enjoyed serving in the House," Shea-Porter said in a statement, according to the Associated Press. "The time has come in my life to pause and decide on a different path." (Subscribe to free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from New Hampshire Patch sites.)
Shea-Porter is a member of New Hampshire's four-member congressional delegation, who are all women. No Democrats have announced a run at her seat yet, though three Republicans and an Independent — all men — have declared their candidacy.
