March 7, 2012 at 7 p.m.- Our meeting features All About Dragonflies by Tom Young.
Odonates (the family of insects that includes dragonflies and damselflies) have an extraordinary life history, with intense reproductive competition and a fascinating life cycle. Every aspect of odonates' life history will be illustrated with Tom's photography. In addition, he'll review identification of all thefamiliar species that can be found in New Hampshire. About Tom: Tom has been a birdwatcher for 28 years, and is Past President of the Essex County Ornithological Club and the Nashaway Chapter of NH Audubon. He researched and designed the maps for the Stokes Beginner's Guide series of books by Don and Lillian Stokes. He also assisted in the production of the PBS TV show "Stokes Birds at Home". In 2002, Tom took up dragonfly photography, which led him to discover how incredibly fascinating these insects are. He lives in Merrimack with his wife and daughter and has recorded 53 species of dragonflies and damselflies in his yard.
