Men (and Women) Running in Kilts in Manchester

Millennium Running takes over the annual road race and the field size quadruples to over 1,000 registrants.

The Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day 5k and Celtic Festival will take place on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from the Wild Rover Irish Pub in Manchester, NH.

The 5k run will start at 10 a.m. and the festival will begin upon the completion of the road race.   This annual road race has historically been operated by the Pub, in conjunction with their Celtic Festival that celebrates the Scottish Highland Games and the halfway mark to St. Patrick’s Day.

In a unique partnership between road race company Millennium Running and the owners of the Wild Rover, Millennium Running absorbed the event to make it a signature event in its 2012 road race calendar.

The field size for the Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day 5k will be more than quadrupled since Millennium Running took over the event this year.   There were 247 finishers in 2011 and there are currently 1047 pre-registered participants in this year’s event.   With race day registration still available in the morning of the event, the field is expected to reach its maximum of 1,200 registrants.   As an added race promotion, Millennium Running will distribute Irish running kilts to the first 750 registrants.

“Producing fun and unique running events is what we are known for!” stated Millennium Running owner and founder, John Mortimer.  “Seeing 750 runners in kilts will certainly be a great sight to see!”

The Wild Rover’s Celtic Festival that follows the road race will definitely be a lot more fun with all the participants in kilts,” stated Wild Rover owner Jim Batchelder.
