Former Guertin Lacrosse Duo Look to Future
High school athletes Bob Fahey and Alex Eaton, former teammates at Bishop Guertin, are officially moving on.
Former standout Alex Eaton may have taken nearly two dozen touchdowns this year for , but he and former teammate Bob Fahey, who still plays for Guertin, are now officially focusing on their futures.
Both Fahey and Eaton signed letters of intent last week – Eaton is off to Lehigh University, while Fahey will attend UMass Amherst next year, both on lacrosse scholarships.
Although losing Eaton as a teammate, who transferred to Westford from Guertin this season, was difficult for Fahey, he said he respects the choice his former teammate made, and believes that he and Eaton both made the right choice, to focus on lacrosse moving forward.

"He was one of my best friends; I was sad that he dropped Bishop Gueritn, but I think he made the right decision," said Fahey. "His work ethic is unreal and it showed on the field ... we [both] played football, but lacrosse was our real focus."
Fahey considered joining Eaton at Lehigh, which was also on his short list of college picks, but after consulting with his parents, he decided Amherst was the best fit.

"It would be great playing with Al again, but this was an individual decision. I had to make sure I did what was best for me," he said. "UMass is close to home, and provides a good balance of academic and athletic opportunities."
As for Eaton, he's made a significant impact in the Westford Academy culture this year, according to Athletic Director Dan Twomey, and expectations are high for him to leave one final mark for the Grey Ghosts this spring as he takes the lacrosse field.
"We're excited for Al and his accomplishments so far," said Westford Academy lacrosse coach Matt Tholander. "Al is a great team guy, an athlete, and competitor, and we are expecting a positive contribution from him this spring in lacrosse."
