From Nashua to DC: Going to the Inauguration
Occasional reports from inside the inaugural festivities, via Sonia Prince.

I arrived in Washington, D.C., Saturday morning flying out of Manchester. Met many New Hampshire people excited about the inauguration at the airport. Two very nice couples, three ladies heading on a girls' trip with gowns in tow, some Obama For America staffers, and Annie Kuster staffer Devin Quinn so much excitement boarding the plane. After settling into our nice brownstone built in the turn of the century, we started walking. We visited Lincoln Park, saw some great statues and lots of dog owners because the weather was 50 degrees!
We noticed many yards still had very healthy plants with flowers still
blooming in the pretty cast iron fenced in courtyards. Then we headed to
the Eastern market. I'm all about the food, and we enjoyed a great cup of
gumbo. Had a drink at the tavern nearby. Then we headed to the magnificent
Library of Congress. We took a tour and were told about the history of the
many fabulous works of art on the ceilings and walls, and gorgeous marble
everywhere.

Visited the the Thomas Jefferson library collection that was sold to the Library of Congress after the previous building had burned down and we also visited a fabulous Lincoln museum. We ended the evening at Barracks Row where there were many restaurants of all cultures.
Sunday I head to the Hilton to the Organizing For America Legacy Leadership with other volunteers, then head to Jeanne Shaheen's office to pick up our tickets to the inauguration.
