CONCORD, NH — A fugitive of the week from mid-February has been found, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Robert James Cain, 60, was wanted by Nashua police on two felony counts of failing to register as a sex offender-duty to report. He is a Tier 2 sex offender and must register for the rest of his life due to an indecent assault and battery on a child in Massachusetts in 1987.

After Cain was featured, several tips were received by the task force that pointed to Manchester but they failed to lead to an arrest. Most recently, Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal said, another tip led investigators to Nashua.

“This information was provided to the Nashua Police Department, who were able to locate and arrest Cain within 24-hours of this tip,” White said. “It was an alert officer that observed Cain in the area of McDonald’s on Harbor Avenue in Nashua when he was arrested without incident.”

Cain was taken to the police department and processed on his warrants.

White said task force members working on the case included members of the Strafford County Sheriff’s Department as well as deputy marshals.

“This is another example of the high value that is placed on tips received from the public,” U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. “Every tip that is received is evaluated and shared with our local law enforcement partners, which in this case quickly led to the arrest of Mr. Cain.”

According to superior court records, Cain also has an active burglary case out of Manchester from Dec. 31, 2021, and an active registration of sex offenders; duty to report charge out of Manchester from March 5, 2021. He was convicted on a registration of sex offenders; duty to report charge out of Nashua from 2019 on Feb. 26, 2020, and given a suspended sentence. Cain was convicted on registration of sex offenders; duty to report and criminal trespass charges out of Manchester in June 2013 after being accused of multiple burglary charges. Between 1997 and 2008, he faced multiple charges in court including change of name-alias-address; duty to inform, bail jumping, forgery, criminal mischief, and multiple burglary charges.
